Soft Skill 2 – Positive Attitude

Now owl Mr. Wisey is back to teach you the next soft skill you must have at work place. This is known as POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

Most individuals spend a majority of their time at work. If you have to live in an environment of negative attitudes, it makes getting through your day very difficult. Dealing with challenges and conflict becomes much more difficult without positive attitudes. The effects of having an environment with positive energy creates an environment where people can collaborate and work together to get their jobs done. Lets take a look at the way positive attitudes improve the working environment and have the courage to not tolerate negativity in your working environment.

Here are the 7 benefits of having a positive attitude at work

1. Less Stress: To begin with, it’s healthier for you and everyone around you.  More and more studies are showing that stress can bring about a host of physical and mental problems, from insomnia, fatigue, and loss of concentration to more serious ailments like severe depression. You need to nip it in the bud now to avoid both short- and long-term side effects.

2. Happy Peer: Your stress level will certainly effect those around you, whether you are so scattered that you can’t organize your thoughts enough to send a coherent email, or you lash out in anger and frustration at a startled (and undeserving) co-worker.  Improving your disposition will have a ripple effect that positively influences everyone you come in contact with.

3. Good level of Confidence: When you have the attitude of no fear and you are positive about your work and the deadlines which you have to reach with the skillfully done work, then it is obvious that your level of confidence is going to reach new heights. This will take you to the next level of work and responsibilities resulting into your growth.

4. Job Security: A bad attitude (and subsequent side effects) can get you fired, so take it down a notch, take a deep breath, and take a break before you go off the deep end (and into the abyss).  An employee who gets the ball rolling and keeps everyone on track is a much better asset.

5. Boundaries:  Having a positive attitude is not only necessary for your health (and job stability), it is also required to enjoy life.  But you will have to take steps to get to your happy place.  You may not have the career you dreamed of. But now with the positive attitude you will rise amazingly in your career.

6. Empowerment: Don’t let the man get you down.  There will certainly be times when you’ll have to deal with tasks you don’t enjoy, ridiculous deadlines and demands, and rude co-workers or managers.  An excellent way is to empower yourself by saying no.  If you are unable or unwilling to perform a task, simply say no.  It’s not easy, but it will make you feel pretty good.

7. Control: You control your life, your aims, your decisions. So don’t fear that you will lose your job. When you will practice the positive attitude at workplace then you don’t have to think about negativeness, you will notice the growth in you. Your path to success will get smoother and you will master your skills. You will learn when and where to control your decisions, emotions, the way you talk.
