App Launch Timeline

by  | Oct 10, 2016

I’m going to share some important dates that you must know to ensure a successful app launch.

1. ASO

It’s not just about keyword stuffing and coming up with a really cool name, it’s about using actual data to be able to come up with a name that not only will stand out in the app store, but will actually drive people to download.

WHEN: Start as early as possible. As early as 4 weeks before your app’s launch is ideal because it gives you enough time to study data and do research.
WHAT: Think about your app’s name.
HOW: Use keywords and data available from different ASO tools available on the web. Click here to see our case study.

2. Apple Feature

You know you’ve created a great app when you’re able to get the coveted Apple feature in the app store.

WHEN: 2-3 weeks before your actual launch date.
HOW: Find an Apple Manager according to what your app is about and write them a pitch email.

3. PR

You don’t need to have a marketing background, you just need to know how to get people’s attention.

When using the ‘Exclusive’ strategy:

WHEN: Start as early as 3 weeks before your app’s launch date.
HOW: Find at least 4-5 big sites to pitch the ‘Exclusive’ to. However, make sure you don’t pitch to them at the same time, after pitching to someone, wait a couple of days and if you don’t hear back from them, assume they said No, and you can move on to the next one on your list.

When using the ‘Full Blast’ strategy:

WHEN: A week before your app’s launch date.
HOW: Send a press release out to everyone on your press list.
