Since so much of branding is about creating affinity, gaining equity and fostering relationships, the act of being social is a natural fit. The fundamental components of connectivity within brand activity are based on social efforts. Additionally, while the ability for businesses to positively scale such connections through social channels was graciously pointed out in today's conversation, the process of linking consumers to both brands and other consumers through social interaction is where the focus needs to be.

Internet users have an average of 7 social accounts, up from 3 in 2012. 56% of them use more than 5 social media accounts. 8 in 10 users use mobile devices to log into social media accounts. Around 1 in every 3 mins spent online is dedicated to social media. This proves the underlying value of social media to connect with your existing users, expand the reach, close more sales and build brand awareness. As a matter of fact, a lack of understanding on how to achieve these results has created a barrier to using social media to its maximum potential. The role of social media in branding: Branding is a process of creating uniqueness in the consumers/potential consumers mind by distinguishing yourself from your competitors. With social media, you get to know your customers better. Their like & dislikes and serve you an opportunity to connect with them better. Opportunity to tap into a diverse audience. Respond to customer complaints/suggestions in real time and building brand loyalty. Keeping customers updated about the recent developments. Acquire new ideas from loyal users to improve business. With the increase in visibility and perceived value, your social media accounts become the new voice for your brand. This not only results in more organic traffic, brand recognition and loyalty among users, but, also increases the conversion rate with less marketing budget.

Social media is an accessible, inexpensive opportunity for you to connect with a wide range of people. Just make sure you’re offering valuable content or an exclusive offer to encourage sharing – so you reach farther and cut through the noise. The opportunity is as many eyeballs as possible.
